Kaleb
Kaleb woke up in the wilderness with his memory shattered and his former life lost. All that was apparent was that a greater being reached out and touched his mind. This being spoke, but nothing was understood or what its purpose was. Did this being want to give this poor gnome a greater purpose? Or did this being purposely shatter what he was.
With all these questions present in his mind, he made a choice: he did not care. For responsibility sounds like a drag and he no longer wanted to care about past attachments. He was free. Whether this loss was an unforeseen side effect of the encounter or a curse, it was the greatest gift he could have imagined! Especially since he could no longer remember any prior gifts he received, if any at all.
So he set out! He explored the lands he was set upon. Driven by hunger or boredom, he focused on satiating himself in what ways he could. Through his curious antics that some found amusing, but most found troublesome, he was given scraps of food and occasionally objects that could be traded for food. When unavailable, he took what seemed like others just left out. Though this did not seem like a problem most of the time, some were very protective of what they threw away. These angered people were loud and sometimes violent. At these times, it was just best to leave as quickly as possible and any pursuers seemed to stop after some distance from their homes.
After some time, he came to the conclusion that maybe he was born from a tree, like an apple? Or perhaps he grew out of the ground, like a beet. He has not decided what idea he enjoyed more. But what he did enjoy is a company of fellow travelers that seems to set up large tents and perform for huge audiences. They were like him. For sometimes the audience gave their belongings to see them perform. Sometimes the performance did not go to plan, but the audience did not seem to care, they would stand and throw food at the performers! How marvelous it was.
Recently, another one of these performers had joined and took an interest in this gnome. His name is Manfred. It was interesting to receive such attention when not performing. Though at other times, it got quite annoying. The band we were traveling with said that we are going to go to our biggest event yet! They say there are even homes entirely made of stone! I would certainly want to look inside one of these…
Manfred tries to convince you to let him go there alone, so as to get some food which he can share with you later. But what if all the food was gone or he ate it on the way back?
