The Well Of Souls

The Well Of Souls is the oldest myth that permeates Illeshire and the surrounding countries. It has existed since anyone can remember. Cave drawings which predate any current civilisation and Kingsdown have been discovered in all 4 corners of the country.
Throughout the world, only a select few know what The Well actually is , and that vague sense of mystery has led to an amalgamation of different myths, legends , and stories surrounding it- so much so that many even believe it to be fake.
The Well is rumoured to exist at the centre of The Mirrorred Planes , a vast desert which exists in an indent in the earth, just south of the equator.
No one knows what The Well really is, or how it drives people mad. Scholars have spent centuries trying to figure it out , and their best approximation is that it is a trace amount of the residual energies left over from the creation of the universe. These energies hold within them possibly ancient knowledge.
This is the main point of contention in the land of Illeshire , much bigger than the small border spats and albeit horrific wars which wage from time to time. We can only hope that someone figures out the secrets, in order to keep them safe, or bring the knowledge to the masses.
Will the peoples of The Citadel and Illeshire be ready for knowledge which drove the most powerful sorcerer the land has ever seen into a nihilistic insanity , or will its very existence tear the world apart at its atomic level?
