Mardutun
A simple fisherman casts his net into the sea, cursing as he instead catches the putrid remains of a long dead sea monster. A stonecutter finishes a limestone column, soon to be used in the construction of a grand new temple to Horno, god of the land. A warrior wipes his bronze spear from the blood of an Abadnami Lion-beast, content that his village can sleep safely once gain. An orator reads up on the latest political discussions, getting ready to advice a nervous young prince on philosophy and oral etiquette. These all happen in the world of Mardutun, an enlightened bronze age world, but one fraught with great peril.
Centered mostly around the great World Ocean, the civilizations of Mardutun are as varied as they are numerous. Some live in cities of polished marble, centers of learning and prosperity, while others struggle to live in mud huts or wooden shacks, toiling under a cruel masters whip.
The world calls for heroes, for the world is far from safe. Dangerous beasts, terrible monsters, power hungry warlords, and opportunistic bandits all threaten the lives of ordinary citizens. The gods do nothing directly, trusting the humans and other mortals to deal with it themselves, but for those who show great promise, they bestow their blessings and powers, that they may earn glory in their name.
