Crystal Rose Hall

Crystal Rose Hall is the main royal hall and receiving building in the capital city of Lilly Appa. It functions as both the receiving hall for formal functions and the legislative meeting hall. Crystal Rose Hall is the tallest-occupied building in the city.

Purpose / Function

Crystal Rose Hall is the main public governing building in the capital. Its grand entrance functions as a place the public can view or pay tribute to the king, and multiple leaders will give proclamations from the dual staircase balcony (The Shadow Prince famously gave his victory speech here, naming himself King and ending the White Queen’s Rebellion). The entrance then opens onto a long hall used by the Royal Court for social functions, especially the many events involved in Festival season. The hall has a glass ceiling and great mirrored walls, with the most magnificent chandeliers one has ever seen, giving the hall the very impressive look that one is among the stars themselves. The hall is big enough to comfortably hold 500 people and many gatherings during Festival will pack the room.     The Hall connects the Grand Ballroom, a gilded two-tier masterpiece, on the north end to the Great Chamber, formal luxury at its best, to the south. The Grand Ballroom holds all of the state dinners. The upper tier of the ballroom contains space for nine large circular tables for formal meals – one for the royal court, and one for each kingdom. The tables are really two half circular tables put together with the centers of the circles hollowed out so that waitstaff may serve from the inside of the circle. A further balcony is provided for the orchestra. The second tier lowers beneath the dining tier providing a large dance floor – with a large crystal rose inlaid in marble in the center of the wooden floor – the pride and joy of The Sun Queen who had the whole ballroom renovated to be a more extravagant show of power during her reign.   The Grand Chamber sets at the other end of the Hall. It is also a multi-tier circular room, where the monarch and the royal court that sits around him attend to all matters of ruling the state. The kingdoms each have a section of the next tier where they are required to present representatives to each legislative session. This design was intended to showcase the power of the royal court over the kingdoms, but functionally the kingdoms get just as much say in the matters discussed by the legislative body as anyone. There is a third tier to the Grand Chamber where members of the public may watch the proceedings, and depending on how tolerant the current monarch is, this section is open to whoever wants to come.
