Alis Weatherfield is an explorer and archeologist, most known for her discoveries of the Stone and Ruins City and the Hidden Cave Paintings between WinterRose and StarSign Peaks.

Personal history

A child of the Autumn Court, daughter of Leana and Alister de May, Alis grew up in the shade of the Dogleaf Forrest.  The de May family were traveling merchants, and their constant traveling instilled a love of exploring in their youngest daughter Alis.  Her father homeschooled the children out of the back of their caravan, instilling a love of history in them.  Alis went to university in Gardinya Lyra, the first of her family to do so, and this is where she met her husband Dom Weatherfield, who was a fellow history and archeology student.  
When Dom passed away a few months before graduation, Alis left school and with the blessing of one of her professors, started an expedition to map the Great Mountain Range.  For the past 17 years, Alis has been working with the archeology and history departments at the University at Gardinya Lyra to explore and survey sites of interest.  It was during this work she made her most important discovery:  The City of Stone and Ruin, a potential abandoned capital that due to Alis's work scholars think belongs to a people that inhabited the continent before the fae.

Education

Alis, like many forest caravan children in the Autumn Court, was homeschooled.  She had a voracious appetite for learning about far-off places.  When the opportunity arose for her to go to University through a chance meeting with a professor who worked at the Gardinya Lyra University, she jumped at it.
At university, Alis struggled to keep up.  While she was a clearly bright student and well-liked by her professors and classmates, Alis was not meant to be cooped up in the world of academia.  She was always itching to go explore outside the city, and could very easily be talked into climbing Goddess Waterfall Point instead of studying.  
After her husband died, Alis dropped out of university months before graduation in favor of joining an expedition team.

Employment

Even though Alis, did not manage to graduate first, she still works with the history and archeology department of the Gardinya Lyra University, she does pre-site exploration and surveys for them, sending maps, photos, and specimens back to their research lab for study.  She is currently leading the site team at The Stone and Ruins City, one of the biggest excavation projects the University has ever achieved.  During this work, a set of traveling scrolls was found that detail evidence of past civilizations.  Alis is also working on finding some of these spots mentioned in the scrolls - having found the Hidden Cave paintings, by matching up the traveler's notes with her own from earlier in her career.
