The Legend of 'Lxudilan'

Lxudilan - "The Cup of Peace"   (World Anvil: World Building Summer Camp 2020. Prompt 1, by Blueconlanger)   ['ɭydilan]

Summary

Ever since the begining of time, when The West-Islands and The East-Islands arose from the waves of The Mapozian Sea, there had been war and conflict between the people of these two groups of islands.   One day the Chieftain of The East-Islands went, with a handful of soliders, to a small island to patrol it. The small island had recently been retaken from The West and the chieftain wanted to check the Island to see if everything was OK there. He only brought a small number of soliders since he didn't want to draw too much attention.   The chieftain picked some his best soliders and set sail for the small island. Just before they set sail, the chieftain changed his fancy red cloak to a normal black one so that he look like a normal foot solider. He knew it could be dangerous to travel to the island dressed as the chieftain of The East-Islands. He thought it could be a good cover to look like a simple solider.   Shortly after they landed at the island they were attacked by some eastern forces. The Chieftain got stabbed in the stomach, but he managed to run away from the battlefield. Some hours later a Western solider found him. The solider saw that the man with the black cloak was wounded and he wanted to help him. Without knowing the man actually was the western chieftain he carried him to his tent where he gave him some healing leaves and some water to drink. The chieftain noticed that the cup of water was made of metall. He knew that metallic items was rare and expensive, even in The West-Islands.   The next day the Western solider told him that they had to get away from the western military camp. "If they find you here they will kill both of us" he said. Eventually, they made it back to the East-Islands. The Westerner allowed the man he'd helped to keep the metallic cup. The Chieftain thanked him over and over agian for the cup and for the help but he never told him about his true identity. Scince that day the chieftain told the story about the cup to as many people as he could and he always brought the cup with him wherever he went. The Chieftain kept on fighting for peace between the people of the East and the West untill the day he died. The cup evantually beacame known as 'Lxudilan' (The Cup of Peace) and 50 years after the chieftain died there was a peace meeting between the leaders of the East and West-Islands held on the small island where the chieftain met the Western solider. Unfortunatly, the cup had disappered a few days before the meeting and the Easterners blamed the West for stealing it, while the Westerners blamed the East for hiding it, and so there was no peace deal made on that meeting. The cup Remains lost untill this very day (a hundred years later), and the Island people are still fighting each other. It's said that the only one who can bring peace to the Mapozian Sea is the one who finds the Lxudilan, The cup of Peace.

Historical Basis

It's known that a Gonracxi chieftain went to an island with some soliders about 300 years ago and only the chieftain came back. However, it's not known which islands the story is refering to. The West-Islands and The East-Islands are probably just made up for the purpose of the story.   Due to this myth, the cup of metall is now a sign of peace in the Mapozian Islands.

Spread

Everyone in the Mapozian Islands know the story of the long-lost Lxudilan.
