Breathing Under Water

Some people once discoverd a way to breath under the water! The method to achieve the condition is to use a weird medicin under water. Since several years back the method has been forbidden amongst most tribes of the Fonezian Island since it is considered being too dangerous. There are several reports of people, trying to breathe under water, drowning and some people even claim that people trying to achieve the condition has turned into mermaids!

The 'Breathing Under Water' condition is not infectous at all.

Causes

This condition gets caused by eating the leaves of a magical plant under water. The plant is commonly used to cure headaches, but clearly, it has totaly different abilities under water.

Symptoms

As soon as one has dissolved or swallowed a leaf of that magical plant (under the surface of the water), one will suddenly be able to breathe water, but not air any longer. One will stay at this stage for usually a couple of minutes, and thereafter one will return to the normal state of breathing air (albeit some people has been turned into mermaids of unknown and mysterious reasons, while swallowing the leaves under water, and has not been seen ever since).

Treatment

Since the condition only lasts for a few minutes, there is no necessary treatment for it. When a person is turned into a mermaid, on the other hand, some sort of treatment could be very necessary. Treatment for mermaids has only been tried once when a woman named Myone got mermaidified. Unlike all other victims of the mysterious mermaid condition, Myone didn't swim away. Instead she waited by the shore until the shaman of her tribe came to give her what he thought would be the best possible and reasonable treatment: the headache medicine. The shaman thought that if the mermaidification was caused by using the headache medicine under water, then it would be cured by using the same medicine on land. It turned out, he was right, partly. Myone could breathe the air again after the shaman gave her the treatment, but she still got a fin instead of legs. Since that day, Myone coudn't walk nor run. Instead, she had to flop and plash with her fin to get anywhere.
