Durga Planes
Durga
To enter the Durga one has to cross over (everyone who dies enters a similar plane of (non-)existence). It is difficult to find an entrance throught the Veil and survive the passing over. Ancient cultures created dimensional portals like the Deep Helm to make passing to the other side more safe.The unknown Ancient builders created these gateways into other dimensional worlds to enable travel. The entrances are all the same except for the color coding and wall signatures.
Several adventurers have tried to enter the gates and it looked like they where succefull, but... most of them dissapeared and have never been seen again. The Magistrarium have scried the gates for centuries and never released any information, so most people think nothing of the gates. Its a death trap. In a rare occasion one returned from far away with untold riches and stories so unreal that they are deemed highly exaggerated.
Geography
Durga consists of many alternate dimensions with strange and unfamiliar physical laws. some of them deadly, devastating others just impassable. It might even be similar to our world (parallel universes). Some have a faster time flow and others have a slower time. The dimensional world may manifest as a barren world void of any water. It might be a solid world (solid for humans, clearly unfit to enter) or a large vacuum. The Magistrarium believes that the Sanyak Sea is a result of the weakening veil of the Durga Plane. But they have not yet proven this as a fact.
Ecosystem
Every entrance leads to a dimension with its own laws, physics and rules and the traveller needs to prepare accordingly to survive.
Ecosystem Cycles
The dimensions are intrinsically connected to the stars, their meaning and location. (note: The ancients used devices to time their travel into the dimension)
Localized Phenomena
Depending on the dimensions it can be anything, but most common are electrical phenomena, making electrical components susceptible to failure.
Natural Resources
Some dimensions make harvesting resources very lucrative.
History
The ancient civilisations preceeding the inhabitants of the homeworld as we know it, created the dimension gateways as a means to travel between dimensions, locations near and far. even beyond the known stars.
