Scions Ambidexter

The Scions Ambidexter are a special detatchment of the Hands of the Order designated to guard certain Verdant Order projects related to the discovery or creation of Racemic Verdials. As of yet, the Scions Ambidexter are most closely associated with the fugitive Dr. Julian Pelforth and his secret project relating to the quasi-mythical Horror Dusk Homunculi.

There are less than one hundred Scions Ambidexter active in the world at any given time, though the fact that they are so spread out among the various beshadowed dealings of the Order makes a full accounting of their number difficult.

Equipment

The Scions Ambidexter are, rather than the snazzy suits of their Hand bretheren, typically dressed in lab coats or other protective equipment. The lifestyle of a Scion Ambidexter involves less danger from combat and more danger from biological, radiological, or chemical sources. As a covert unit, however, Scions Ambidexter are almost never found without guns or needlers packed with harrow- or tranquilizer-tipped ammunition.
Scions Ambidexter often carry more restraints than typical Hand operatives. Attackers subdued by Scions are likely to meet gristly ends in the very same projects those attackers were trying to intervene in. Unlike in the Order's operations against the Vale Toil Front or the Asbestos Boys, Scions Ambidexter have little interest in making an example of intruders, as doing so would alert the authorities to the illicit activites the Scions are guarding.

The Scions Ambidexter were hand-picked by Dr. Pelforth and other researchers working with the Order from among the ranks of the Hands of the Order. Prospective members of the Scions must themselves have some degree of education in biology, medicine, chemistry, or research methods. This limits the pool of potential recruits, but this is not necessarily a bad thing - if nothing else, the Scions Ambidexter are valuable as (somewhat) competent lab assistants in addition to being bodyguards.
