The time's markings - in progress
Execution
Before the ritual, an arrangement is made with an artisan which specializes in divine rituals. The invoked must thus consume a sleep-inducing formula and rest for about 3 days in a row, while in catatonic state. The mixtures helps opening access to it's memories which the artisan manages to see through a magical bowl that contains the ectoplasm created. The artisan will thus meditate on those things he saw and proceed to paint a first coat with the ectoplasm. he then put a second layer on non-magical paint to finish the mask.
Components and tools
The ritual main object given to the invoked is the mask, which is an unique piece based on their color pattern, their family tree and their aspirations.
Religious symbols are also added sometimes.
Also, as a token of welcoming in the family, the celebrant will adorn the invoked with ancient items the invoked's ancestors left as heritage. To symbolize how the past forges the future. Usually, those items takes the form of ornament like necklaces, wristguards, rings (for fingers or piercings) and headdresses.
Participants
The ceremony is rather limited in attendance:
- the celebrant :which takes care of the rites of passages and divine readings
- the artisan: which has fabricated the mask for the invoked
- the invoked: the main member and reason of the ritual, which will received his ritual mask and recite an oath.
Observance
The ritual is held at night and are always done one person at a time. Some family or the invoked themselves can demand a specific time to the celebrant depending on their culture, such as doing the ceremony during an eclipse or a certain lunar orientation.
