Blade of Muramasa
Many speak of Masamune's madness, of hiow he cursed himself with having created a masterpiece that could not be beat so early in his career. They say that he worked tirelessly for several days at a time just to try and create something even grander, only to fail spectacularly. Nothing ever came close enough, and he tragically took his own life at a tender age of 475.
But the dark corners of the world whisper of something else. Their words poison the legacy of Masamune, and his grand creation, but nevertheless one cannot help but wonder. Tales exist of a sister blade to his masterpiece, cursed with abyssal powers to create an equal of Masamune’s godly strength. It was said to be made in secret by the original smith of Masamune, who, drunk with the power of the blade he created, wished to create an equally powerful blade. When Bahamut declined blessing the blade with the same power, the elf journeyed far and wide, and through a long and arduous path he made a pact with Tiamat, Bahamut’s archrival, and the Blade of Muramasa was born. The pure opposite of Masamune, its powers as a combat blade is almost unrivaled, and it feeds on the blood of its victims to grow more powerful and keep itself sharp. Should it go without blood for too long, it kills its owner. It is said that this is how Muramasa was killed.
In some instances over the course of history, tales have been spun of blades known to drink the blood of its victims. Many twisted smiths have been inspired to try and create a dark equal to Masamune, a copy of the legend of Muramasa, but none have truly achieved it. A few conspirators claim otherwise however; They say that it is the blade of Muramasa, waiting to find a wielder worthy of it, traveling from owner to owner until it finds someone it knows will satisfy it.
