Isle of Bones
"Truly a place of lawless villainy and scum. I once saw a rat with a knife in its mouth chasing a goose!"
Bartholemew the Near-Sighted
Demographics
The Isle of Bones is predominantly a human settlement. There are small groups of other races, usually in their own, ill-defined ghettos. While lawlessness runs rampant, a trip to one of these ghettos if you are not one of the races is a sure fire way to be left dead in an alley.
Government
There is no defined government in the Isle of Bones. It is truly a place of chaos, where only the strong can thrive. The Pirate Lord Davis, current ruler of the Isle of Bones, sits on a precarious peak. So long as the supply of grog and festivities doesn't dry up, his rule is likely safe. However if the day comes when his slave auctions do not bring in the money to allow for these frivolities, he will be in for a world of hurt.
Industry & Trade
In addition to slaving, the Isle of Bones is popular for its "entertainment" district, where one can find any sort of fun they seek. Restricted substances, drinks, and human entertainment of any desire are plentiful in the firelight district of the town, but be warned, cut-purses look for travellers to take advantage of, and even the beggars have quotas to meet.
Infrastructure
The Isle of Bones doesn't have a lot of it's own infrastructure in place. Its wealth and prosperity comes from the procurement and sale of humanoid workers. Slavers are common place in the Broken Strand, always looking to capture someone who looks too weak to fight back, but the pirates who actually inhabit The Isle of Bones are nearly always slavers that range to other lands in order to procure fresh meat for the needs of the other pirates in the Broken Strand.
History
Nobody really knows when the Isle of Bones was first inhabited, but longtime residents know the origin of its name to be a reference to the innumerable slaves that had worked to death under the tyrannical leaders of the past.
