Borbador's Baubles
“Squawk!” -Squawk
Purpose / Function
Borbabor’s Baubles is a shop for the procurement and sale of magical items and is known amongst many in Malaz City to be the chief supplier of magical items to adventurers from all around, and has a longstanding agreement with the Obsidian Grounds to give them first crack at any magical items that come into the store's inventory.
Known to be an honest shopkeeper, the proprietor, Borbador, has gained some extremely loyal customers. Because of their influence, he has managed to keep an independent shop away from any merchant guilds that try to get their hands on his profits. Due to this, he is able to provide some services that the guilds frown upon, such as the procurement of less favourable goods.
His reputation with the Crystal Commune is a complicated one. While they regard him with a certain disdain due to his apparent lack of magical ability, they are more than happy to pay him for the supplies he is able to procure for them.
Sensory & Appearance
Perched beside the proprietor is a small pseudodragon named Squawk, the unofficial mascot of Borbador’s Baubles. Squack eagerly greets each client (some in a friendly manner, others…not so much), and keeps an eye out for those who think they have quick fingers.
Architecture
The store itself is full of stacked books, potion bottles, flasks and boxes of magical materials, and behind Borbador, a display case full of his recent procurements and best finds. The oaken display shelves and polished counter seem to gleam with an otherworldly shine, and the shop is always well lit, despite not having a single candle to be found.
