Jiran

Jiran

Jiran grew up in the Janber troll nation, along with his sister, Mea. As the second son of the chieftain, he was expected to attend every assembly of the nations from an early age. He was enthralled by the other nations' cultures and begged his parents to allow him to study their cultures and learn from them. During his travels, Jiran learned the ancient arts of painting and drawing. His skills grew with each area of the world he visited, incorporating their unique styles into his own. While he was traveling, he encountered many of the warped creatures in the burned lands. One of these was a giant Mernin who had been terrorizing an elven town by eating their food supplies. He managed to kill the beast with his goregon, Toya, and dagger. Once downed, the meat fed the town for a month, replacing the supplies they lost. When he returned home every year, he retold his stories to his nephews, as he preferred to have a smaller audience. Kiorro, however, told the entire nation of 50 what his uncle did through the year, as he believed his uncle was the best hero in the world. After gaining the trust of the Askelson family by leading a successful coup against the Elven king, Hakkam, he lived in Kean with them to help with the restructuring of their nation. He started a museum in the Great City after the nations moved there in 583 WA, where he kept all the nations' art he collected during his travels on display for all to see and taught various painting classes. He would get restless as the years went on; however, and continued to travel the world, mapping it as he went. He returned to his museum every year for a month at a time, retelling his new stories to his students.

Special abilities

His painting and drawing abilities far surpassed that of anyone who has lived in the World Alliance Era.

Apparel & Accessories

Specialized Equipment

He had a dagger made for him by the Lorlian blacksmith.

Mental characteristics

Education

Jiran was well-versed in the languages and cultures of the other nations. He spent most of his life pursuing knowledge of the arts and came across many abandoned universities. He was the only person in known history who read all of the Askelson family's Last War journals. He believed they held the secrets of the past and wanted to better understand what happened to create the burning lands.

Employment

Jiran owned the only museum known to exist in the time of the World Alliance. During his childhood, he worked at the goregan stables and formed a bond with the runt of the litter, Toya. After the fall of King Hakkam, he became an advisor to the Askelson family as they rebuilt their nation. He tutored the twin heirs as well, instilling a sense of honor and humility into them, something their parents were never able to do.

Accomplishments & Achievements

He was the first person to master painting during the World Alliance and the only person to teach art. He had the largest collection of paintings and drawings in known history.

Failures & Embarrassments

He once tried to ride a wild goregan, trying to show off in front of his older sister and their friends. The goregan waited until he mounted before charging into the burned lands, much to the shock of all present. Jiran was thrown into a burned spire, breaking his left arm. Because of the distance between him and the village healer, he was never fully healed and he was never able to fully extend his arm.

Mental Trauma

After the goregan incident, Jiran refused to go near the creatures until his parents forced him to work at the stables. He was given the task of helping to feed and clean the goregans with supervision. After a few years, he grew fond of the creatures and developed a unique bond with the recent litter's runt. He was still afraid of many goregans during his travels, however. He never admitted his fears to anyone, afraid they wouldn't take him seriously with Toya by his side.

Morality & Philosophy

He tried to keep all traditions alive everywhere he went, expanding his worldview as he learned about the other nations. He strongly believed the best way to keep the World Alliance in place was to learn more about every nation and the world before the Last War.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

A childlike sense of curiosity drove him to learn everything he could about the world. His sense of duty to his own nation and its history and traditions led him to the belief that all histories and traditions should be preserved in some way.
