Kyren grew up as a commoner, filling his days by teaching himself the sword, for which he possessed a remarkable aptitude, and watching over his cousin
Kalia Anzora. Disturbed by how inadequate the Council of Warriors seemed to be, Kyren made the journey to the capital and defeated not one, but all seven of the warriors. He became the first commoner to ever sit on the council, at the same time making a fast friendship with Adina Thycaris and an enemy out of Alton Treadnight. As a councillor, Kyren began pushing for a new government to be set up. He was heavily opposed, but eventually won his case. Though he protested, his allies convinced him to take the position of King of Malcera; but, knowing that Alton intended to wage war, Kyren kept his cousin Kalia a secret. The war began soon after. Following a two-year struggle, Kyren surrendered to Alton at the Battle of Talamor, after sending Thycaris and another nobleman, Corby Estonor, to Mount Dakan to raise a rebellion. Before Alton on the battlefield he delivered the mysterious message known as the Anzora Promise, which referenced the Ruling and its bringer (Kalia). He was then imprisoned.
