Personal history
Kalia lost her parents at a very young age. She was raised by her aunt and watched over by her cousin, Kyren Anzora, until she turned eight. That year, Kyren made Malceran history by defeating all seven members of the Council of Warriors and becoming the first commoner to occupy a seat on the council. As Kalia turned ten, her cousin dissolved the inadequate Council of Warriors. Though he protested, Kyren was crowned King of Malcera. Sensing discontent among his opponents, namely Alton Treadnight, and fearing war, Kyren elected to keep Kalia a secret from his people until she reached the age of sixteen. However, by Kalia's twelfth birthday the war Kyren had dreaded had begun. Six months after the secret princess turned fourteen, Kyren was overthrown and imprisoned by Treadnight and his forces.
One year later, after the death of her elderly aunt, Kalia took up the torch, embarking on a dangerous journey in search of the fabled rebel Adina Thycaris.
Armed with her cousin's royal cape and signet ring as tokens of her identity, Kalia, who was already skilled in knifethrowing, trained to become a skilled user of paired anelace daggers for close combat, and began using the flaming knives developed by her cousin. Setting her eyes on the goal of vengeance, Kalia prepared herself to take the lives of the entire Treadnight family, unbeknownst to the Rebel faction she had joined. Before she could accomplish this task, however, Kalia was captured by Rogues and handed over to the traitorous Lord Faron Alamar, who imprisoned her within his home, Castle Centarel. Intent on learning her identity and Lady Thycaris' location, Alamar tortured Kalia's cousin and nearly succeeded in breaking her resistance. Rescued by the secret Rebel spy Galen Treadnight, whom she had planned to kill, Kalia released the hatred that had crippled her. Only then did Galen tell her of her cousin's promised Ruling and the role that Kalia played in keeping that promise, believing she was now able to act in the role. Kalia returned to the Rebels and prepared to wage war.
