RE: Prestone County Stats

*** URGENT ***

We have been processing the samples and analyzing the data from both Prestone and Lowden Counties, and there is a disturbing development that needs to be addressed immediately.   We have detected a new variant, now designated PNDV-1d. This new variant has us very concerned for two reasons. First, this variant seems more vigourous than previous variants, and more aggressive. The second reason, however, is far more troubling. This variant has been detected all the way across the continent, thousands of miles from Lowden and Prestone Counties. We don't know how this spread, but the fact that it is now in the wild means this virus is now uncontained. In addition, we would not have expected this virus to mutate as quickly as it has. Given the number of known infections, we would not have expected a mutation for at least another 2-3 months.

This virus is doing what virus are expected to do - fight to survive and reproduce. But the mutations coming that quickly will mean that effective vaccines will be difficult to manufacture. The rapid mutation will mean we will have to constantly change the make-up of the vaccine to compensate. And we are not sure we have that capability at this time.

This should be a flashing red warning sign. If we do not get people to follow protective protocols, we will be talking about millions of deaths.
