2050-11-7 Statement from Global Health Council
Date: 11/7/2050
NEW BRIDGERTON - Ongoing research has resulted in the discovery of a new PNDV-1 variant, dubbed PNDV-1d. This new variant is aggressive and dangerous.
The Global Health Council is advising all regions to immediately implement the following protocols:
Mandatory face masks for all citizens, including during outdoor recreation.
No gatherings of more than 4 individuals, or one household.
Businesses must transition to no-contact service
Individuals should carry hand sanitizer and/or wipes to treat surfaces before contact with others.
If individuals MUST go out in public, they must maintain a 10-foot spacing between themselves and others.
It is HIGHLY recommended that all individuals change clothing as soon as returning home, and keep an area for soiled clothing away from contact with others.
Clothing should be washed in hot water with some form of bleach.
While not required, face shields will offer additional protection from virus spread. As the virus spreads through airborne and fluid vectors, face shields will help protect membranous tissue from absorbing it.
If an individual has tested positive for ANY variant of PNDV-1, they should immediately quarantine in place and contact their physician. There is some evidence that treating with antivirals after infection but before symptoms appear can lessen or even stop the virus progression. This has been true for variants a-c but has not been verified with variant d.
There may be more recommendations to follow as we assess the true extent of PNDV-1d spread. The GHC recommends that the World Defense Organization mobilize troops immediately to enforce these protocols.
