Garridan Aldea

Garridan Aldea is the primary love interest of Eva Kane, the first-person protagonist of Maladive. 
He was born in eastern France, and he came overseas with his parents when he was still a child. He grew up in the United States and studied Anthropology, intending to become a professor of the subject. When he meets Eva Kane, he is finishing his teaching degree and working full-time. She is enthralled by his openness and his calm exterior, and the two strike up a strong bond over hours-long conversations.

Garridan is a member of the Silivasi people, a reclusive tribe that has long thought to have disappeared from the public eye and existence. In truth, they are an ancient group of people that hold no allegiance to any nation, let alone universe. They exist between worlds and travel frequently across the multidimensional veil when it suits them. On Earth, next to nothing is known about them, except for their desire to stay relatively to themselves and their unwelcome attitude toward outsiders. There have been very few exceptions.
Though they hold no strong allegiances as a whole, some members of the Silivasi people have aligned themselves with the Faceless One, a powerful creature who is imprisoned in Atrareia.
The myth of The Great Return is crafted by the most malevolent of the Silivasi people to lure unwitting humans into The Dark Realms, primarily as fodder for the Faceless One. They believe that the day that someone pure of blood comes, the Faceless One will grant them (and everyone on Earth) magic and powers beyond their wildest dreams.
Most people on Earth hardly believe in the existence of other worlds, let alone the possibility of an opening to another realm readily available to those who seek it. As the saying goes, however, "be careful what you wish for."
Garridan Aldea has been sent by the Silivasi to gather the last element of a long-struck bargain with Eva Kane's ancestor, Amelia-Rose Racine. Eva is the final touch to the uncovering of magic, and he is on a mission to make sure that she comes back to the Silivasi homeland with him.
