Marquis

Marquis is an interesting town, it is both notably a trading hub for precious metals and materials coming down from Mount Veil as well as a town built around the famous Val Academique, meaning that it's a strange mix of miners and hunters alongside academic hopefuls and idealistic noble children. It's also known for having many of the best Holiday celebrations in Maladase, as both of those parties are certainly the 'work hard, play hard,' sort. 
Generally, the Northern half of town is where most of the smithing and trading is done, with Val Acedemique taking up the Southern side. There are certainly exceptions to that, but the successful trading businesses on the Southern side of town tend to be those with extremely charismatic owners, otherwise, the students don't seem that interested in raw materials when there are flashier things down the street or an inn to waste money at. 
Most adventuring parties that spend time at Marquis end up spending most of their time at Val Academique, especially if they have an alum in the party. The campus bar is in the highest tower of the campus and has a balcony that is essentially always snowing, but those who never went to the school need an escort to get in. 
Aside from Val Academique, one of the most prominent forces in Marquis is the Bringinton Expedition, the mountaineers that end up escorting a lot of the miners and groups coming up and down from Mount Veil. They are also fairly frequent employers of Prompt Response
