Deadmarn

The Deadmarn is a toxic overspill of necrotic energy poured forth from the Underdark, given form on the first world and manifested as the spirit of decay personified.
In less flowery terms, the Deadmarn is the constantly spreading sickness of the land, only held at bay by the combined efforts of the people of Journeau, Elwillow  and Inquistor’s Landing. If not for their work, it would have consumed all of Maladase long ago.
On the edges of the Deadmarn and in surrounding lands, undead and creatures that feed on necrotic energy are commonplace. Unfortunately for travellers, the ‘edge’ of the Deadmarn’s influence is impossible to see and changes day by day. Roads that were safe days ago can be overrun by the dead even if they are a full days walk from the first visual signs of corruption.
If an adventurer is looking to go into the Deadmarn, going in without at least silvered weapons would be near suicide, as most creatures within cannot he touched by non-magical arms. Additionally, the decaying presence of the Deadmarn is toxic to mortals, and as such poison resistances are recommended.
Nobody sapient is truly FROM the Deadmarn. Though adventures from Journeau, Inquistor’s Landing and The Elwillow Forest would likely have histories deeply effected by the corruption.
