The Flux

Manifestation

The flux is the energy of life. It courses through every living being, from animals to trees. If a living being is depleted from all of its flux, it will die. Every living being produces amounts of flux at their own pace, including the planet itself who radiates of the stuff. Excess flux can be used to bend the laws of reality. A flux user is referred to as a mux.
The flux is invisible for most people. Those sensitive enough can see it manifest as bright red strings. Everyone leaves behind them a trace of flux that can be picked up by trained eyes. The traces disappear over time.

Localization

The flux is known to concentrate easily into minerals, especially gemstones and metal. They are used by mux as flux "batteries" or incorporated into objects to power them.
Excess flux can be repulsed by magnetic energy, although cannot be removed completely. Handcuffs made of magnetic stone are commonly used against mux prisoners.
The known world is surrounded by an unpenetrable flux barrier that cannot be traversed without dying or mutating from massive flux exposure. Noone has been known to cross it and come back unscathed.
