Inferno Virus [Inktober Prompt #2 Mindless]

Introduction:

The Firelands that lay beneath the ever-burning volcano Gol can be quite miserable to any without the expertise to live in this punishing environment. The land is riddled with dangers from the environment, the inhabitants, and the animals. One of the more evil critters to inhabit the area is the Magma Flys that take up residence in the Burning Bog Lands to the south of Gol. These particularly nasty little insects are known to bite and feast on the blood of animals for nutrients. The bite itself can be quite painful with a sharp burn as if being hit by a bursting ember from a fire. With the Magma Fly, the worst doesn't come from the bite itself but what can pass from the fly's mouth into its victim's blood.
The flys carry a nasty little virus in their mouth that is known to attack the brain of its victims. The virus will burn the nerves in a particular area of the brain known as the amygdala. The virus is fast-acting, and within 30 minutes of transmitting the virus, the victim is overcome with bouts of rage that quickly turn into panic as the individual loses their mind little by little as the virus ravages the nerves. Slowly the victim will be unable to function, leaving a mindless and easy target for the Magma Flys. As the victim lays on the ground, unable to move the flys will feast on the blood of the victim until nothing is left but a dry corpse.
