Manipulating mana is similar to moving a limb; you don’t think about the individual muscles, or that your limb is even there. You just try to move it and it moves. The most common method of interacting with mana is to create long tendrils of it starting at a focal point, such as the caster's hands, and moving the end of the structure indirectly. Matter can then be attached to any part of the tendril and moved around as necessary.



It is possible to control mana without contact with it, direct or indirect. By moving nearby mana in pulses, waves can be created, much like sound waves. It's near impossible to have precise control over mana waves, but they can be used to displace distant mana. This is a common feature in weapons that utilize runic projectiles.
