Magical Fingerprint

Every creature capable of using magic and casting spells has its unique magical fingerprint. Magical energy can be described as an invisible aura emanating from inside of a creature. That aura has properties such as frequency of vibrations, temperature and density. Differences in these properties are the magical fingerprint.

Magic with the same fingerprint will always try to merge and that of different fingerprints will stay separate or annihilate each other. That rule makes magical fingerprint one of the most important concepts in magic.

Magical fingerprint is one of the reasons why pyromantic spells are used the most in the army. When balls of fire casted by two soldiers collide they annihilate each other in a massive explosion

The fingerprint can be also identified from the residual magical energy left after casting a spell. Law enforcement uses that to catch criminals. In most countries, they have databases which store information about magical fingerprints of known criminals. When the Magical Security Act was signed there was an idea to include the fingerprint in the Mage Registry. However, the idea wasn't implemented. Human rights activists said that it would infringe on privacy and personal freedom of magic-users too much.
