Professor Adam Smith
Adam Smith is a British-born Vampire who works for the Blood Council of Europe as the leader of a research group trying to find the cure for the vampiric pheromones.
Mental characteristics
Education
Adam studied medicine at the University of Oxford. All of his professors saw him as an exceptional student and many of them believed that he would be a great physician. However, Adam didn't want to work like that. After his studies he went into research and now he spends most of his time in a lab.
Employment
For most of his life has worked at a medical lab at Oxford University and wasn't involved with the Blood Council. At the time he wasn't important enough to be considered by the council for anything and he preferred to focus on research rather than politics. He was approached by the Council in the 90s with a request to lead a team investigating the vampiric pheromones. He was chosen for this position because of his scientific accomplishments. Adam agreed and moved from Oxford to Dresden, Germany where the research facilities of the Council were located.

Virtues & Personality perks
Adam is a hard-working person and he always finishes what he starts. When working he has an ability to focus on the task so much that nothing or no one is able to interrupt him.
Vices & Personality flaws
His hard-working nature and the ability to hyperfocus can be hard to adjust for many people. From the outside it may look like he is not listening and not paying attention to the other person. Also, while hyperfocusing he tends to forget about other things.
Social
Family Ties
Adam's parents are respected ex-members of the Blood Council and are the pillars of the vampire community in the United Kingdom. Adam regularly visits them as he is an only child.
For a long time Adam wasn't able to find a partner. His luck changed after moving to Germany. There he found a wife with whom he has two children, a son and a daughter.
Social Aptitude
Adam likes being around other people, but can easily become tired of constant social interactions. When that happens he needs to be left alone for a few hours or even a day to recover. The most comfortable he feels in a lab where he can focus on his research and ignore other people.
I can relate--once, I went to Vegas and didn't want to be around anyone for a week afterward. Way too many people, sounds, and lights for my tastes. I would lock myself inside my lab if I were Adam, too.
