Eldorian Festival Masks

These elaborate festival masks are worn on the fourth day of the Eldorian Harvest Festival called the night of masks. Most also wear more fancy clothing or even a festival costume this night, but it isn't a requirement like the masks are. The masks are originally called Masks of Landon, originating from the first king. Landon came up with the idea of the night of the masks and introduced these as part of the fourth day of the festival.
The base masks are often made of rugged cloth or leather, then decorated with all sorts of small decorative objects, paint and pigments. Some are even made of fine cloth with a shiny metal exterior, decorated with gemstones and exotic feathers. Most masks worn are within a certain cost, mostly to not make it obvious who is behind the masks, some masks can be a dead giveaway. If you see a mask that is adorned with diamonds then obviously it's a rich merchant or noble, would be quite the twist if it was a peasant.
Most masks are very cheap to make, and are made within the homes of each family. A few shops in the capital city specialize in the making of complete masks and selling parts for the masks, here you can pay premium to have one specifically made for you. Often bookshops and general good stores do sell masks and doodads to decorate the masks with days before the festival. If the masks weren't cheap to make, the least well off would not be able to afford and therefor not attend the night of masks.

Significance

These masks hides the identity of the festival attendant, which means no one knows who anyone are. This way people act more true, all sorts of people take part in acts that are normally frowned upon, this includes the nobles and other higher class attendants. Everyone mingles with everyone, no one is above anyone and this is the most important part of the masks.
