The Great Madness

After the Fire Spears were used by Men, the Breaker went mad. He broke the Eternal Spirit and fled from the Maker, who could do nothing but watch as the Breaker lost its invincibility and descended to Girda. The Fire Spears had already broken the lands of Girda to a certain degree, but the Breaker increased this damage twentyfold at the least. The perfectly symmetrical and straight sides of Girda were destroyed beyond recognition, with the coasts being shattered into nondescript shapes. New lands were formed, and old lands sunk beneath the oceans forever, never to be seen again. The Breaker pushed Girda up and created long mountain ranges, dividing the peoples of Girda. Massive seas and bays were formed where once only solid land had existed, and it was said that the rain turned to acid and pounded upon all of Girda for twenty years straight. Very few survived the onslaught, but miraculously, Men were among those that did. However, their glory days were over, and the few that remained lived in small tribes, wandering the wastelands left behind by the Great Madness.

AFter the Great Madness, the Maker came to Girda, and set new laws so that Men could never unleash the destruction that they had done again. First, Men were forbidden from using the Source Power, as the Fire Spears were said to have been guided by the Source Power. Next, the Maker created the Aiyevanin to protect Men from the Breaker, in case he ever came back to Girda. Finally, he scattered the remaining Men across Girda, so that they could not be wiped out by the Breaker in another Great Madness.
