Rocks

Rocks are closely associated with the Rock Rune. While the Rock Rune is the essence of Rocks in the Aethyr, Rocks are the embodiment of the Rock Rune in Maerl.

Crystals are a particular form of Rocks that are (usually) resonant with the various elements and thus are important for Spells and (when of little use for that purpose) for decoration. Other than Salt, however, Crystals are specialist, rare and expensive and not included as Rocks.

History & Usage

Everyday use

Rocks are commonly used for road-making, building, machinery parts (e.g. Querns and Millstones), and sculpting. Not all rocks are suitable for any or all of these uses. Some rocks are so hard that they may not be worked cost-effectively using the normal tools of the trade available to Masons. Such Rocks are then only used as a natural source of rubble or for special (usually magical or mystical) purposes.
