Quicklime

A material which, when mixed with sand (or gravel) and water forms Mortar, and when additionally mixed with hair forms lime-plaster.

The mystical process for the creation of the Quicklime from Limestone is closely guarded by Alchemists and Limeburners.

History & Usage

History

The creation of Quicklime has been known to alchemists for many centuries as the Old Empire's mortared stone or mortared tile constructions attest. A specialist group known as the limeburners became the producers of this material but they were a small group that closely guarded their secrets.

Hazards

Quicklime burns on contact with water and is hazardous to those that breath it in or get it in their eyes.

Quicklime has been used by various groups as a weapon to disable and/or blind their opponents - but it can have a double-edge as a shift in wind direction can cause the cloud of dust to move in the attacker's direction.
