The Magic System

There various ways magic users can preform their skill. It depends on inherent ability as well as learned skills.   Magicians: This is the highest form of magic use and requires no materials. Magicians are born with a high propensity for magic which can manifest at anytime during their life. A magician's power comes from energy within and without. Because of this ability to tap unrestricted amounts of energy from themselves or their surroundings, untrained, these magicians can be exceptionally dangerous and volatile.
  • Channels: These magicians draw energy from the world around them and so are often connected with an element. They've great stamina. When casting, they do not drain their source but instead use it's presence as a boost and support. They are able to influence their element to an extent. When emotional, they can uncounciously effect their element.
  • Springs: These magicians draw power from within themselves. They are more powerful than Channels and can cast quickly and with great force. However, they can easily deplete their reserves if not careful. Unlike Channels, these magicians are able to summon/create any element they are connected to.
Working together, these classes of magicians are at their most powerful. A Channel can draw energy from an element and funnel it to a Spring who can cast quickly and effectively. Any magician who pushes themselves too far can suffer lasting damage. Channels need to be careful of being overpowered and drained by their element or a teammate.   Wizards and Witches: This is learned magic. Wizards and witches will collect spells from books and tongue. They require both incantations and objects (a channel and spring) to cast. Favored objects such as staves, wands, and gemstones are used as a channel for magical energy. A living thing is need as a spring, such as a plant, beetle, or egg. Accidents as they often occur effect the object used as a spring. Thankfully because of this, wizarding and witchcraft is considered more safe than magicianship, but it's certainly more messy.   Common Magic:   Magical beings and Creatures (The Fae):
