Elven Oath of Servitude Ceremony

In the far away lands of the Sunset Islands elven nobles and generals need support from other nobles and important persons to keep their power stable. But with the shifting times the elves of the Islands are living in, loyalty is a really desired resource. This is why the Oath of Servitude Ceremony was created.
In the ceremony the person making the oath dresses with white, symbolizing a kind of "rebirth" as a protege of their new lord, while the lord dresses with their houses colors. The lord brings with him 4 objects to the ceremony: A cup with hot cocoa, a plate with bread, a special coin and a cloak. Also, is necessary for a witness to see the ceremony to invalidate any false claim about if it really happened or not.
The lord sits in front or their new protege and places the object in front of him:
  • The lord divides the bread in two and eats one half, and takes a little bit of the cocoa. The protege does the same. The act of eating by the two parts of the ceremony symbolizes that the lord will always look for their protege, ensuring nothing essential is missing for them. This special bread is made of corn, nuts and is sweetened with bee honey. All of these ingredients must be from the lord's own crops if possible and must be baked with them. Is it said that this type of bread gives vitality and makes the ones who eat it happier.
  • Then, the protege must take a needle to pinch one of its fingers to then let a drop of blood hit the coin the lord brought. This golden coin has the symbol of the lord's house. This second act symbolizes that the protege is willing to give their life for the lord and their house.
  • At last, the lord takes the cloak (endorsed with the colors and symbol of their house) and puts it over the shoulders of the protege, now a servant and a member of the house.
To finish the rite, the witness serves a booze blessed by priests of Ilyomera and shares a drink with the other two, forming officially and alliance.
If in some moment, the protege betrays their lord, is the responsibility of the witness to find and apply lethal punishment to the traitor, to then leave a coin, bread and cocoa over their body, but taking the cloak with them.
