Material Characteristics
Physical & Chemical Properties
The physical properties of the crystal vary depending on their type of magic they are formed from.
The most common type, blue magicite, has not outward effects but work as great magical focuses to help channel magic.
History & Usage
Everyday use
As magicite is the physical manifestation of magic, it is often used in the crafting of magical equipment thus imbuing them with a natural magical affect beyond that which could later be applied through enchantment.+
Refinement
Magicite can be refined from its crystalline form into a metallic form. The process to do so requires a skilled spell caster to control the magical essence and a master smith. Through the refinement process, the smith and spell caster work together to fuse the raw magicite with some metal (typically mithril for its incredible strength and durability).
Since the refinement process creates a mixture of multiple materials, it weakens the natural affect of the magicite compared to its crystalline form. In exchange for this loss, it becomes more workable so that it can be used to create other items.
Hazards
Breaking one of these crystals can be extremely dangerous. On occasion when a magicite crystal breaks, it will cause a sudden out pouring of wild magic that has been known to cause any number of effects from losing all your hair to exploding in a fireball.

Storage
Due to the dangers and unpredictability of what happens when magicite crystals break, it is stored with great care and caution and never in large quantities.
It is preferred to only collect what is needed at the time and to immediately refine it into magicite steel.
