Nari Ko (NAH-REE CO.)

Elder Nari Ko (a.k.a. Mitjze Ko)

"Oh, it's always been my dream to see the Great Ulalna Moth someday!"
— gossiping with some of her friends, whilst spinning silk

Intro

Nari Ko is a human entomologist (part time silk-farmer,) and a Mitjze (Gossli for Elder,) of Porrit.

Nari was born to a large family of matriarchs while they were crossing the Ifeszanian Desert in a caravan, transporting the body of the previous fallen Sand Witch to her final resting place. In circles that Nari no longer frequents, she is known as the "witch night child," hoping to escape that title and rumor by moving to the northern hemisphere of Megterra. Nari is a single mother that lived with her children in the small silk-farming town of Porrit, her eldest son and daughter had left home and gone to search for greater horizons. Nari currently oversees 'the empress' statue of Porrit, maintaining the team in charge of farming the Bombyx Magis on that statute, that Porrit is famous for. Being that Nari is a village elder, she also is seen as a bit of a mentor, helping the village council decide on issues that may arise. Jeong-hui, her youngest child, currently lives with her and helps take care of the children of Porrit, running a small day camp while their parents work out on the statues.   Nari was born to a largely matriarchal family, in a caravan moving across the Ifeszanian Desert that was transporting the body of a previous Sand Witch to her final resting place. In social circles that Nari no longer has access to, she is known as the 'witch-night child,' on account of being born on the same night as this event. In order to escape the title following her and dictating what she would be known as in nomadic tribes around Ifeszan, she fled to the northern hemisphere of Lyiot. Nari is a single mother that once lived with her children in the small silk-farming town of Porrit, her eldest son

Description

Appearance
Nari is the shortest of her family (don't ever remind her of this to her face,) and still doesn't quite comprehend how her children have outgrown her so. Her soft brown skin shows years of living life to the fullest, and her hair, now starting to grey a bit, is never seen touseled or out of place. She usually wears darker earth-toned jewelry and favors light blue kembas; traditional dress-like garments worn by the women of her mother's tribe.

  Personality
Nari often presents as a homebody, having made a beautiful home in the sandstone huts of Porrit, but hides the ever-present tug in her mind that begs her to travel as her parents did. She's not one to admit that anything ails her, making children often wonder what stories her brown eyes conceal, and have yet to be told. She tends to be quite soft-spoken and does not like to use flowery language; reserving her hidden talent as a writer for private journals and scripts she creates in her free time.

Biography

Nari has been living in Porrit since she turned eighteen, leaving the world of exploring the desert and titan husks behind her. She does not speak much of her family outside the one she has directly had a hand in creating and is extremely tight-lipped when asked about her mother. Nari has many friends around the globe, writing to all of them as much as she can, and being the sole reason that Porrit still has a post office.

Relationships

Ko Family

Nari loves her family very much, having gone through much with her children. While the opposing parent of her children may not be there anymore to see them grow, she prides herself on what her little silk pupae have made of themselves. She often worries about what Jun-ho seems to be doing, and came the closest she'd ever been to knifing someone when he told her that he got married behind her back. She has a hard time believing sometimes that she raised "Shine'e," and twists her hands into knots over the amount of traveling her little super star does. Since Jeong-hui has decided to stay with her for the time being, Nari is less antsy about what he decides to do- so long as it does not involve leaving Porrit for long stretches of time. She carries a small talisman with her, engraved with the name of her children and mounted with the birth stone of her mother; a ward so that her children may be safe on their travels across Lyiot and beyond.

Porrit Village Council

Nari has strained her eyes more times rolling them than she cares to count over the times she has had to be the one to point out the most obvious solution to the Porrit Village Council. The notions of elder respectability bore her, and she finds that it seems only the women of the council manage to get anything done. She hopes that one day soon they find someone to take her place on the council, as she much prefers being a full time lead on the farm that she is a part of.

Hop Of'Once'Non'ken

Nari's best friend is an extremely tall Taguel, a radical sportsman hailing from Bravia City. Hop's ears are nearly half his size, and droop at the ends under the weight of all the chains and earrings he wears; garnering a tongue lashing from Nari every time she sees them. Nari met Hop during the last Festival of Storms, being that he crashed headfirst into 'the empress' statue, and broke a few of his ribs. As it was her statute that he hurt himself on, she made a large fuss about taking him in and nurturing him back to health. He would awake each morning to see three sets of little eyes peeking over the edge of his bed, and then he would chase the happily shrieking Ko kids around the house, Nari would shriek and chase him to get him back into bed.
