Arathor Oberthson
Arathor Oberthson was a descendant of Dread Pirate Oberths that grew up in the pirate haven Oberheim on Arasram. The family line originated from Midgardian Elves that migrated to Atlantis, then took to the stars and turned to the nomadic lifestyle. Though Arathor spent his life on the desert planet, the stars always called to him.
He grew up with minor celebrity status due to his family name, and while most of his brothers and sisters thrived in the spotlight, he never felt comfortable with it. He spent years collecting rumors from pirates, stopping by their secret haven, learning about the outside worlds. When he discovered his ancestor’s mutinous first mate had a living heir. Varek Brand; Dread Pirate Brand.
A drive began growing inside him, pulling him to the stars. He felt the calling to get revenge for his many times great grandfather and worked his way off-planet. Once he could negotiate a deal, he joined a pirate crew and traveled amongst the stars. In no time, he made a name for himself as a dominant tactician. He became captain of his own ship in short order and performed many successful raids with few casualties.
When Captain Oberthson discovered pirate hunters harassing a peaceful nomadic Stjarnsraad, he intervened. Attacking the pirate hunters made him a big target for the authorities, and he had to stay on the run. As he saved Stjarnsraads from pirate hunters and pirates alike, ships began joining his fleet. It was a small fleet, not large enough to be called a Svarmande, but they were fierce and driven.
Eventually, he discovered Dread Pirate Brand had taken an unusual leave on Midgard, their ancestral homeworld. As word reached him and they charted the course, Aervare Brand learned he was being hunted. Dread Pirate Brand knew his ancestral blood feud would someday return, and he left Midgard abruptly to meet the challenge head-on.
