The Dreamers

Historical Details

Background

Doctor Kaufman was a famed philosopher, author, and poet. Writing may work on political philosophy and the idea of time. While Dr. Kaufman's most influential philosophical work was A Critique of Time Itself, his most influential cultural work was The Dreamers. Pulling on the philosophical ideas he argued for in his critique, Dr. Kaufman ended his career with a poem that is largely seen to be foretelling of another great empire that will be created. Dr. Kaufman never gave any insight into the poem or spoke about it except to clarify that the 'Eternal Conquerors' whos vassals shall be the years are not the humans. It was not but ten years after The Dreamers was published that the Human Plague would eradicate all of humanity, including Dr. Kaufman.

Public Reaction

While the Humans discounted Dr. Kaufman's clarification of the poem all other races used this as a rallying point after the war. All scholars know this poem and most every school reads or teaches it to students. Dr. Kaufman is seen as one of the titans of literary works, poetry, and philosophy to this day.
