This article is depicting a potential future of this world. Some events in here might not have happened yet and will be changed by the actions of the players involved in this world. Until these campaigns have concluded, this article will exist in a superposition between existance and non-existance.
Some version of this article will survive, but who knows what it will be when all of this is over

So you have decided to play in the World of Lothrea? Then let's get you started! To play in this world, you first need to create a Character. The next few pages will help you turn your idea of who you want to be into an interesting character with a personality and a history grounded in this world. And in the end, we will assign them gameplay mechanics to make them ready for your first RPG session.
So let's put this whole talk about stats, backgrounds, classes and mechanics aside for a while. We will get to that soon, but your character should be more than just a collection of statistics written on a piece of paper. Your character should have strengths and special abilities, but also weaknesses and flaws for them to grow over the course of their journey. To figure all this out, we will start by choosing a Culture and a Species for your Character. After that we will see which previous experiences formed them into who they are today and last we will decide on their abilities they use during adventuring.
By conceptualizing your character first, and thinking about mechanics later, you have the opportunity to build a character with depth that will be fun for you to portray. You will have the beginnings of a backstory that you and your Game Master can refer to in the future. And after that we can focus on putting mechanics on all of it, to make your idea work during gameplay.
So let's get started!
