Tiamat

Goddess of Chromatic Dragons

Like Bahamut, Tiamat arrived with the dragons during the First Breaking. It isn't clear how the two came into being or why they already hated each other. But eventually, their war almost wiped out life on the material plane during the Age of Dragons. Stopping them was the major reason for why the other gods created the Second Breaking, limiting the influence of all gods on the material plane. This meant the dragon gods could no longer support their creations and other races were able to take many of them down.   Tiamat has moved around a lot since then, trying to find the optimal allies to strengthen her dragons. She has made some sort of deal with the Githyanki, and she is currently in Avernus in the Nine Hells. But she is excellent at scheming and her allies are often very powerful, and thus she should never be underestimated.

Divine Domains

Tiamat is primarily the god of chromatic dragons, but she will take any dragon with similar disposition under her wings. There are even some humanoids who worship her, though there are few and they are often the dupes of dragons.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The five types of chromatic dragons are always represented. Sometimes this is just in the form as colours in the shape of claw marks, sometimes it's a carved series of dragon heads. It all depends on the skill of the one creating the symbol and the resources they have access to.

Tenets of Faith

  • Dragons are the mighty, rightful, rulers of the world.
  • Those who are lesser than you should serve or be destroyed.
  • There is security in resources; make sure to build your hoard.
As far as Tiamat is concerned, the world could well have burned instead of the Second Breaking interrupting the war between her and Bahamut. She would prefer to rule a world in ashes where lesser races are in chains, forced to serve their dragon overlords.

Social

Contacts & Relations

Tiamat has a mutually beneficial deal with Asmodeus. She also deals with Gruumsh, Ariel, and Laduguer; but all of those are only on a case by case basis. At the other end of the spectrum, she hates Bahamut with every fibre of her body, and therefore his allies, such as Amaunator also become targets. If needed, she's talk with the more neutral gods, such as Oghma, Raven Queen, or the Onyx Knight.
