Fighter classes introduction

When headed for danger, being well equipped and knowing how to use your weapon and armour is essential to survive. There are many ways to do this; from the tactical fighters to the brutal barbarians to the martial arts of the monks. While they might have different origins, they might end up in similar circumstances.

Potential organizations

More than likely, a fighting character has at some point been part of an organization that has had a use for them as such. Most obviously, this would be the Protectors of the Sun - the army and police force of the Sh'areen Caliphate. But the guards for individual noble houses, such as the House Seelon Guard, is at least as likely background for those working for the authorities. There are also many different mercenary groups for those who prefer a more freelance kind of work and, of course, the criminal underworld always has room for more people good at beating up the right people.

Class-specific

Barbarian

It isn't just traditionally barbaric groups such as Fah'Rah that might suit a barbarian. Some recruited to other forms of fighting focus on blinding rage and force rather than care and finesse. In the same way, there are thugs on the streets that are effective because they have learned to focus on their anger.
  • How civilised is the area you stem from?
  • Do you carry ay totems or symbols from that?
  • How well do you deal with authority outside your own culture?

Monk

There are many monastic orders that focus on honing the mind, body, and soul, rather than singular devotion to a deity, though many include that as well. Examples are the Order of the Sun Soul, the Order of the Azure Horizon, the Order of Light and Shadow, the Order of Soma, Primival Order, or the feared Order of the Lunar Eclipse. Which order you hail from and how you relate to them now will determine a lot about you.
  • How much does your training define your outlook?
  • Do you wear clothes signifying your Order?
  • On what do you disagree with your Order?

Rogue

The Dust is the largest criminal syndicate around, and while other groups exist, they must all take the Dust into account. Of course, not all rogues are actually criminals. The Eyes of House Seelon is the noble house's spy network, and others have similar networks as well. The Chorlonni family, for instance. And some rogues to more honest work as scouts for the Protectors of the Sun or other such groups. And a few are investigators and self-employed.
  • What's the worst crime you've committed?
  • What secrets have you found out?
  • Do you have a favoured way of killing?

Fighter

Fighters correspond to the trained users of weapons in any society. Being members of the Protectors or otherwise function as a guard makes perfect sense for them. But anywhere there's use for a sword, there's use for someone who can wield it, be it as a noble's past-time, a shady sellsword, or something else completely. Regardless, you probably know the city of Jolethai fairly well and you're at least familiar with the two military groups located there.
  • Where did you learn how to fight? From whom?
  • Who has been your most important employer?
  • What weapons do you favour?

Ranger

There are very few ranger-specific organisations, but almost any group needs people who can navigate the desert and find their way in the harsh environment. This goes for armies, merchants, or just those who need the food from wild animals. Or need the animals killed. It's important to know the general layout of Seelon Principality and possibly the Sa'ar Desert as a whole. The city of Jolethai itself might not be your specialty, but the area around it certainly is. You should also know about .
  • How well-travelled are you?
  • Did you learn your trade by choice or necessity?
  • Do you prefer civilisation or the wild? Which is more dangerous?
