Corellon

God of the Elves

Corellon Larethian

The exact origins of Corellon are unknown as he arrived during the First Breaking. What is clear is that he used to be a very free spirit who did whatever he wanted. He either created Llolth or married her, or both, or neither. In any case, he or they created the elves. Their creations were as fluid in their way of being as their gods until Lloth tempted them with power in return for giving up their changing nature and their love for Corellon.   Angered, Corellon cast the elves out of their home in Arvendor. This act seems to be linked to when their timeline intersects with the rest of the world and the realms the elves knew and the planes that exist became one. If Corellon can move between realities, it isn't something he admits to.   Besides being the god of the elves, Corellon is worshipped as a nature god and as a god of wild creation. Bards, artisans, and wanderers who wish to keep his fickle attention on their side. This is also the reason why much poetry and music is written in elvish even by non-elves.

Divine Domains

To the elves, he is the main deity and their creator. But he is also a god of artistic creation, of natural beauty, and of spiritual greatness.

Tenets of Faith

  • Appreaciate the beauty you experience.
  • Be all that you can be, understand all that you can understand.
  • Trust the world to guide you.
Corellon is almost exclusively worshipped at any scale only where the population is a majority of elves. There are often shrines or similar to him in other places, but rarely does anyone bother to build any large temples. Instead, value is placed on instilling every expression with the spirit of Corellon.

Mental characteristics

Gender Identity

The reason male pronouns are used for Corellon is mostly the result of several languages historically being limited in describing gender. Elvish has a grammatical gender that isn't masculine, feminine, or even a true neutral - it describes a gender that is absolutely exactly whatever it is that it happens to be right now. That's Corellon.

Social

Contacts & Relations

While Selûne might sometimes find Corellon unreliable, she is still likely his biggest supporter. Still, the god of the elves also maintain active alliances with Mielikki, Sune, and Wallan, supporting them in their creations.   The constant enemy of Corellon is and will always be Llolth. She betrayed him, and she made his people betray him. He will never be able to forgive this. He doesn't like the demons and he has an ongoing vendetta with Gruumsh, but the fight with Llloth is personal.

Mannerisms

While Corellon is a being of beauty and life, he isn't always very approachable. Most of the time, he is aloof and seems more interested in capturing the grandeur of the world than talking to some mortal trying to get his attention. This might be one of the reasons Lloth was able to lure the elves away from him to begin with.
