The Conflict

Battlefield

This took place entirely within the territory of the former nation of Aeirland, and was a battle that crushed the measly rebellion still remaining. The rebellion fought hard, but with the disadvantage in numbers, power, and the battlefield, they were doomed to lose in the bloodiest battle of the war for the freedom of Aeirland.

The Engagement

The engagement between the rebellion and the army of Akrus was brief, and could be summed up as a massacre. Akrus killed not just rebels, but women, children, and the old and the sick, sparing no one. They burnt down Aeirland's towns, and made sure to squash any remaining hint of the rebellious spirit. It was brutal, and horrific. This was the battle that ended Aeirland and in turn the war for good.

Outcome

Aeirland was destroyed, with most of their infrastructure, civilians, already small military, and any hint of morale crushed. The nation officially surrendered only weeks later, submitting to the rule of Akrus, knowing that the rebellion had failed and they had lost. Hundreds of thousands of civilians and soldiers from Aeirland were killed, and that areas population would never fully recover from the devastating losses.

Aftermath

Akrus gained the territory formerly held by Aeirland, and Aeirland ceased entirely to exist after this battle. The entire territory claimed by Akrus, however, was burnt and destroyed. The infrastructure was mostly gone, and almost nothing remained of the once vibrant and lively small nation. The population that formerly lived there would never truly recover, and within only a generation or two, most of even the survivors were dead or gone, by suicide or homicide or attempted but failed escape of the nation, and those that successfully left were usually never seen or heard of again.
