Antimagic Tablet

Utility

This technology is used in many different ways. The reason it was created was as a way to subdue prisoners who would otherwise be able to use magic to get out of containment. It also serves as a reaction suppressant for those with Magic Intolerance, a condition that causes allergic reactions when exposed to magical energy, as it prevents magical energy from existing within the body.

Access & Availability

These are relatively commonly available, but often quite expensive. While those used in punishment and control are often very difficult to find, medicinal Antimagic Tablets are commonly availably at most apothecaries and medicine sellers of all varieties.

Complexity

This technology is relatively complex, made from a combination of compressed magical energy which is harvested from a hotspot by drawing it from the air with an antimagic magnet and collecting it in an entirely airtight container. It is then saturated with water from what is known as a Horror Pool, one of many lakes that has been touched by a horror, as this combination creates a potent antimagic mixture. From that stage, it is either placed in a capsule as a liquid, or dried out to create a powder which can be compressed into a tablet. The potency of the resulting tablet is determined by the potency of both the magical energy and the horror water, and depending on the concentration the effects can last from under an hour to around a week.

Discovery

This small tablet was originally theorized as a form of severe punishment, as in theory it could strip a magic user of their magical energy. The original theory was to create one that could permanently deprive any magic user of their ability to use magic, however due to the nature of magical energy, it was only available as a temporary removal, lasting between one hour and one week depending on how effective the individual tablet is. While originally solely used in punishment and control, it was discovered to greatly assist those suffering with Magic Intolerance, and is now with some improvements a widely used medicinal treatment.
