Nina, Leader of the Hollywood Vampires

"I think we need to see Nina," Willa said to Morgan.   Annie had gone to the kitchen to get everyone gin and tonics. She yelled from across the room, "Who's Nina?"   "Willa, we haven't gone to see them in ages. I'm not sure we left things in such a way that we'd be... well, able to just walk up and see Nina," Morgan said. "In fact, I think the last time we saw each other, we tried to kill each other."   "Who's Nina?" Annie asked again, now sitting at the table with three tall glasses of medical grade booze.   "Those were different times," Willa said, taking a glass. "She wasn't their leader back then, and you were both just following very very destructive orders from elders whose thoughts and ideas were barbaric and inhumane. The world is different, you know this."   "For the last time, or I'm leaving. Who is Nina?" Annie said, standing and obviously annoyed.   "Oh sit, Annie. Willa, are you sure?"   "We have to find out who attacked Ren and Jonathan.   "Bit Ren and Jonathan," Morgan correct.   "Fine, bit them. Look, Morgan, I don't believe it was the vampires. Or if it was, they aren't from around here. Nina will talk this through with us." Willa turned to Annie and said, "Nina is the head of the Hollywood vampire coven."   "Excuse me?"   "You heard correctly," Willa said.   "Why on Earth do we need to talk to a vamp? More like we should burn them out of the city," Annie sat back and crossed her arms. "You are out of your mind."   "Like I just explained to Morgan, this wasn't one of LA's vamps. Someone is out to get your coven, and we need some information from someone who would know about this kind of thing. In case you haven't noticed, there haven't been any issues of any kind for years with them... We haven't been terrorized, followed, bitten, heckled, harassed, kidnapped, extorted, blackmailed, bribed, or whatever else for our powers. For years! Not one of our speakeasies has been raided. No one's even complained of a vamp encounter in years. Why do you think that is? Nina. She's been their leader since I dealt with William. She's kept the coven under control. She will talk to us and help us."   "And how can you be so sure?" Morgan asked.   "Because. I just know," Willa said, not divulging the story.   "Spill it, Willa," Morgan said.   "Oh alright. Nina and I have been working on a sort of alliance. When I became The Arbor, I went to the other Elders to ask about a truce with others like us, or all non humans, that is. It's hard enough trying to conceal ourselves from humans, we shouldn't have to worry about bumping into vampires, weres, or whatever else is out there. They shouldn't have to worry about bumping into us, either. It would be a better life for all of us, if we, well, if we were just one community."   "You've got to be joking," Annie interrupted. "And we all just become best pals?"   "I most certainly am not joking. And watch your sass, Annie, I'm still your Elder. As it turns out the other Elders agreed with me, and I became the de facto liaison. My first task was to begin talks with the vampire covens. And since it was rather... violent the last time we met with the Hollywood Coven, I started with them. Things had been better for us, so I thought Nina may have had something to do with that. I just called her up and started talking. For the better part of the last year, we've been meeting and planning." Willa paused to check reactions.   Annie kept silent. Morgan seemingly more inclined said, "That's really something, Willa. I have to admit, I don't know if I trust them like you, but this does sound like it could be a really good thing if it works."   "Good luck convincing all the other witches," Annie said.   "What's Nina have to say about all of this?" Morgan asked, ignoring Annie now.   "She's way ahead of me. Over the last year, she's been filling me in on the changes she's made. The first change she made was no more feeding off of non-humans, unless it's consensual."   "What the hell does that mean?" Annie asked.   "It means what it means. They've stopped hunting us."   "How can they even tell if it's a witch or not?" Morgan asked.   "They can smell it, isn't that wild? She's even working on a rule to stop leaving humans dead. Turns out she's not really into violence," Willa sipped her drink.   "Isn't that some irony," Annie said, still sour about what she was hearing.   "Irony or no, she happens to not like murder, and I, for one, am glad to hear it."   "But the hunting and attacking and bloodsucking are just peachy," Annie said.   "This is a big step forward, Annie. Her coven respect her and listen to her, and they respect her decision to make the alliance with us," Willa continued. "In fact, Annie, they have a few speakeasies in town, and they've got tight connections in Mexico. I know you've been wanting to get some tequila."   "I'll pass," Annie said not a little disgusted at the thought of working with vamps.   "Well, I'm game. Though she may not want me walking into her home," Morgan said.   "It'll be fine. She knows what happened in the past was poor leadership on both sides. Water under the bridge." Willa turned to Annie, "Now Annie, it's your coven that's being attacked. I think you should come. Ask Nina yourself if she knows what happened to Ren and Jonathan."   Annie swirled what was left of her gin. She whispered a few words and the gin turned to fire in the glass and then quickly vanished. "Let's get this over with," she said as she stood. "Great leader or no, I'm burning her house down if they had anything to do with it."

Hi there! You may not know me, but I am the sponsor of the Great Leader of Their People Summer Camp Prompt this year! Since you wrote this article, I would like to know, would you mind me reading it aloud on my Twitch channel next week? I have a lot to get through so it helps to do it live while people watch. If not, it's okay! Not agreeing to be streamed definitely does not put you at any disadvantage for winning in my eyes. Please respond swiftly by replying here (make sure to click REPLY under my comment or I won't be notified), message me on my World Anvil profile page, Discord, or anywhere else you find me online.   Thanks again! Whatever you choose, God bless and much success! <3

Hi there.... so I'm a bit late on responding, aren't I?! I'm so so sorry. I must have had notifications turned off or something [insert facepalm]. That was so kind of you to ask, I'm flattered! How ever did you find this? And had I seen this last year, I totally would have. I'm a teacher, and I bet that was right around the time I started gearing up for the school year, and writing takes a backseat in my brain. I'm attempting camp again this summer, so I'll "see" you on here :).

Hi there. I was sponsoring the character prompt and went to the hub page with all the characters in that category. I am supposed to be sponsoring another prompt this year as well, but I am trying to have a better system about it. It was quite hectic in 2022 and I'm still getting notifications of others replying late lol. No worries at all, but I want to do it more efficiently this time. Thanks again. God bless and much success to you with your summer camp plans!
