Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye

The Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye (rarely known as the Eldritch Order of the Palatine Eye) is a secretive organization of scholars and historians based in Ustalav. Their mission is to study and monitor dangerous lore and inhuman monsters, and their primary antagonists are the cultists of the Whispering Way and the Whispering Tyrant. Their primary identifying symbol is a golden scarab beetle with a single eye image on its back.   The Fellowship of the Sun recently learned from the Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye that a cell of the Whispering Way maybe operating within the Dreamlands. Also, they believe that the Watcher in the Bay is manifestation of Shub-Niggurath.

Members

Members of the Order are deeply enmeshed in political and arcane matters and are sworn to guard Ustalav and its ancient traditions. They typically communicate with each other through coded messages and symbols that hold special meaning,
  • Professor Petros Lorrimor was a member of the Order when he was alive. After his death, his will requested the fledgling Fellowship of the Sun take the Manual of the Order of the Palatine Eye to Judge Embreth Daramid in Lepidstadt. The Manual is one of the main works of the secretive organization. The deep purple book is adorned with the symbol of the Order: a scarab beetle, made of brass, with a single eye image on its back. The covers of the book are lined in polished steel and the book may be locked shut using a key with a triangular shaft. Its contents include discussions of mathematics and the arcane with descriptions of ancient ceremonies, however, the text is written in encoded Varisian to make it very difficult to read.
  • Dr. Henri Mertmane, one of the Deans of the Sincomakti School of Sciences in Rozenport, is also known to be a member.

True Silvered Thrones

Those who ascend to the upper echelons of the Order are known as true silvered thrones. Such shamanistic scholars embrace the occult and are masters of occult rituals.
