Firesong Calvacade Headquarters, Arcanent Audition Entrance

Following the arrow, you go to the far right side of the building, where you find a sign saying Arcanent Auditions and another arrow pointing down the alleyway. Eventually, you arrive at a small door in the side of the warehouse. There is a halfling woman sitting at a small table beside the door ... she watches as the player(s) approach and greets them with a smile. "Welcome to Firesong Cavalcades! I am Fenora Belmin! Are you an arcanent here to audition or just really, really lost?" She laughs at her own joke and picks up a pencil and sheet of paper.   "Right. So, I need to ask you a few questions to get you registered. Be aware that your answers will be used to determine your skill level, contract type and starting pay, so please ... try be honest."
  1. "What is your name?"
  2. "Where are you from?"
  3. "Do you have a folder?" (she takes it if they do)
  4. "Why are you here?"
  5. "No, seriously. Are you running some kind of scam?"
  6. "What can you do to earn coin?" (if they only list one entertainment, she frowns. "Seriously? You're a one-trick pony?")
  7. "Are you aware that Advance teams spend at least half of their year travelling ahead of the cavalcade rather than performing with the cavalcade?"
  8. "Did you have or create any problems getting here?"
  9. "Do you have your own gear and equipment?"
  10. "Can you ride a horse and camp outdoors without being a danger to yourself or others?"
  11. "Do you already have an entertainer's license?" If yes, "What type? and For what area(s)?"
  12. "Do you have any outstanding warrants in any state, country or province east of the Theocracy?" If no, "Are you sure?" If yes, "Which one(s) and for what?"
  13. "How many years have you been working as an entertainer?"
  14. "Have you ever been arrested?" If yes, "How many times, when and for what?" If no, "And you've been an entertainer for how long again?"
  15. When did your audition start? (the correct answer is 'when I arrived out front'.)
When she's done with her questions, she smiles broadly at the applicant. "Well, now... that wasn't completely awful." She adds up the symbols at the bottom and pulls a rope behind her. This alerts the audition team that they have an applicant. "Please wait here for a moment; you will be called in to audition momentarily." There are NO chairs or other seating in the alley ... applicants have to stand and wait until they are called.   Eventually the door opens and Isabel Danton, an older human woman, steps out. Fenora hands her the paper (and folder, if present) with the applicant's information. Isabel looks it over skeptically and then looks over the applicant.   "All right, the audition team is currently viewing another performance. Please follow me." She leads them down a grimy corridor to a large windowless room with chairs and tables. "You'll be called when it's your turn. The audition team prefers that you present at least two, but no more than three, entertainment types. You'll go on stage, state your name, then perform like your future paycheck depends on it." She grins. "Because it does. Do you have any questions?"   After answering any questions, she leaves the applicant in the room. There are 1d4+1 applicants already here waiting, and another 1d4 come in afterwards. They are each focused on practicing before the audition and will resent any interruption. Periodically, Isabel returns, calls a name and escorts an applicant out.   When it is the player's turn, she leads them to another room where four audition judges sit waiting at a table before a small stage.   From left to right, the judges are:
  • HARYLD DALICA (half-elf male)
  • RUSALKA VAVRUS (gobin female)
  • ELIUS SHAULFER (human male)
  • ZETHAYA MELUZAN (dragonborn male)
They appear to be painfully bored. Isabel hands the nearest judge your information, points you toward the stage, and then leaves.
