The Daeva

No one knows where they came from, and though they are known by many names throughout the world - Apep's Children in Khayu, Servus Infernii in the Imperium Vulcanalia, or Der Tiefling in Edelweiss - they call themselves simply The Daeva. To most, they are thought of only as the consort-slaves of ancient Avestan and their Ahuran Elf masters. It is said by those who know little of their ways that they were born from diabolical acts involving some old malicious magick; fornication with demons, bestiality, fathers lying with their daughters, adultery, and the seduction of holy men. To the world, the Daeva are soul sucking seducers, child stealers, and malicious charmers.   As such, the few Daeva that wander out from their Elven master’s protection do so in fear; rightly believing that they will find themselves the victims of ignorance and violence.   In truth the Daeva are neither consorts nor slaves of their Ahuran Elf brethren. Though their origin is a closely guarded secret, the Daeva traditionally seek out Elven families to join where they forge unbreakable bonds and live their entire lives as beloved, joyful companions. Highly intelligent and inherently magical, the Daeva are outgoing and magnanimous people who are particularly good with children. Lone Daeva can wonder throughout Avestan searching for a family to join for years, but wherever they go they leave smiles and delight with the Elves they meet.

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Daeva are of a similar height to humans, and they have a mixture of sleek scales and soft, fleshy skin that can range from ruby red to bright pink. Their hair can be either bright white or pitch black. Their eyes are cloudy with no pupil, and are usually either white, blue, or amber in colour. While they are commonly described and depicted with a spiked tail, bat-like wings, or with cloven hooves, the Daeva have practically identical bodies to humans with the exception of a pair of decorative horns on their head that only begin growing in late childhood.
