The Quakebloom Hound

A monster in Lopki who roams the emerald forests mostly at night although they can be seen during the day. It's very carnivorous and tries to go after those who are smaller than them but they mostly attack humans. However, the Feyas are considered a delicacy to them as they have the meat that's not as dry as human's meat.   They are quadruped, meaning they are small enough but large enough to be mistaken for a wild dog or even a wolf in the distance. They are partially covered with scales - more on top than their legs as it would be hard for them to lie down and sleep. Their scales are low enough to protect but they also protect them from attacks from other predators and it's hard for prey to defend themselves. Humans could very well pierce their skin once they figure out how but generally, it's difficult for humans to penetrate their scales. It's very common to find shed scales along forests floors and around. Very often, hunters use these scales to help protect their armor and even used as weapons.   Upon their head, they have tusks that make it easier to gorge their victims and help get rid of the organs faster to get to the meat. Although, they can be very heavy for the Quakebloom Hound when they first grow in. After that, they learn how to utilize it for their hunting and protection. They usually fight each other for dominance, play, or mating reasons. They also help sharpen it and trim it down by rubbing against the trees. If one sees shredded trees in their foray into the lovely emerald forests, it's best to turn back right away unless you are the brave and stupid type.   Because there's hardly any protection for its legs, the Quakebloom Hound travels via tumbling. The tusks make it easier for them to navigate as it helps with wind speed and direction. The scales are tough enough for them not to feel the harsh ground against their backs although, especially because they are quadruped, they are able to walk and run at great speeds and distances. But it is much safer for them to tumble when enemies or prey nearby. The weight and sharpness of their scales could crush their prey easier in this regard.   For their odd aura, it's easy to tell when one is close to a Quakebloom Hound nest. When they hunt for food, they willingly exude it further but no further than 5 miles around them at all times. Any movement, especially of fear, that's when they will start tumbling along to get their prey.   Since they are a canine-like creature, they do have claws but if their usual method of attack, tumbling down their prey, does not work, their claws can very well poison and paralyze their prey just as easily as their tumbling could very well crush them easily. There are plenty of antidotes among the villages and settlements of this country of Ostax after humans successfully hunted these Hounds for their scales, fur, and venom. Their claws have usually used as jewelry for hunters for surviving these particularly nasty creatures.   In case of defense, the Hound could coil up into its scales like a coil but mostly, they will just climb the nearest trees. However, because their scales are so heavy and their tusks could get in the way of the branches, they usually go to the first few branches they could reach. They use their claws to maintain their grip as they would hurriedly climb. The inactive iron shift of their scales makes this easier for them to remain immobile in case one of them is brought out alone or if the other Hound is dead.   Because of their mating ritual and how hard they would fight for their mate, these creatures are usually paired with their mate or pups when they are old enough to teach. They are rumored to be near human thought as they are capable of simple planning. No human has been able to study them long enough without their odd aura triggering the creatures so no real study has been confirmed or denied. However, those who have managed to survive an attack of these Hounds have told these simple truths about them.

Basic Information

Dietary Needs and Habits

Often eats whatever live animals it senses within it's odd aura although it does hunt at night. The Feyas are considered a delicacy for this animal and Humans are just as well. As long as it has meat and can run, you can be sure a Quakebloom Hound is nearby.
