Here is my collection of Spooktober prompt fills, which I've been using as flash fiction prompts.

#11 Escape

A thrumming tension fills the room; turning the silence into an oppressive, tangible thing, heavy and smothering. His body trembles with the need for speed, panic fueling his urgency, but his hands are steady, movements slow. No matter how fast he needs this, no matter how much he desperately needs it to work quickly, he does not speed up. Every moment is precious as the clock races against him, but he cannot afford to rush. Everything must be put exactly in its proper place. The stomp of feet echoing down the hallway disturbs his silence, but he merely begins to chant, transmuting the danger into the pounding of drums, the growing nearness building the intensity. The battering ram strikes the door with a slam; the wood cracks and splinters, but it is too late for them. Just as the door falls, the portal whooshes to life.
