Berserk Missile

A variant of a Disassembler Warhead developed by one of splinter humanities behind the Jumpgate System. It is practically a weaponized Gray Goo scenario, where the entire planet being devoured by nanomachines that disassemble everything organic is actually an expected outcome.   It is another (after Shoggoth Missile) weapon that is actually banned in the Outer Colonies, due to the missile being notoriously quirky. The gray goo it creates forced at least several of its user to sterilize the planet with another worldkiller weaponry (Hypervelocity Relativistic Bombardment in most cases) to prevent the goo from spreading to other planets - as it started creating starships.   It is believed that the initial makers of the Berserk Missiles were wiped out in a war against the goo, and nobody on this side of the jumpgates wishes to face new fallen. Because of that, all found missiles are subjected to summary dismantling.   The name hails from the old Berserk Probe scenario (obliteration of life by self-replicating machines that spread and wipe out all competition), since it's precisely what the goo was trying to do (even if it wasn't really intelligent and not every planet bombed with Berserk Missiles went that way).
