Antimatter Reactor
Third most widespread power source in the Galaxy, that produces power by controlled mutual annihilation of matter and antimatter. To some point theoretical (unless somebody has an access to greater store of antimatter), since the fuel cost makes them heavily uneconomic. On the other hand, everyone knows how they work with majority of Outer Colonies nations possessing working prototypes, and antimatter costs slowly falls down, which means they win soon became not an alternative of fussion and fission reactors but their successor.
Antimatter reactors draw power from mutual anihilation of matter and antimatter. Their biggest advantage is that 1g of antimatter allows to produce few hundred times more energy than from 1g of refined uranium (not to even mention hydrogen), which makes them most fuel efficient energy sources that humans can produce. The costs of antimatter are best sum up by saying that even then it is still more profitable to use fission and fussion reactors.
The exception are archeotech antimatter reactors, with most of them possesing some sorts of internal antimmater generation method. Creating something close to perpetuum mobile, since they use 'only' 70% of the energy they produce to create fuel to sustain themselves. They are still 70% less efficient than manmade reactors...while still being more fuel efficient and less costly than both fission and fussion reactors. Well, that's how archeotechs are.
